Methodology and Innovation

As a methodology for implementation, we have chosen a successful model previously applied by KE.ME.A., developed in order to participate in various funded actions from national and European resources. Each work unit is structured as an action with specified and distinct deliverables, always in line with the whole project’s development. The working units are complementary and aim at empowering law enforcement staff to recognize and combat radicalisation and extremism. In order to develop the methodological framework, the most effective practices from other EU funded research projects, as well as the collection of RAN best practices, will be implemented.
Specifically, an exemplar methodology for implementing the Action will be developed, based on four (4) key actions:
1. Detecting the needs of Law Enforcement Agencies for early identification and combat of radicalisation leading to violent extremism and terrorism.
2. Recognizing and evaluating the potential threat of radicalisation leading to violent extremism and terrorism in Greece.
3. Educational training and awareness-raising of Law Enforcement Officials for early recognition and combating radicalisation leading to violent extremism and terrorism.
4. Strengthening the Interdepartmental co-operation of all Law Enforcement Officers involved and the promptitude of law enforcement staff to manage crisis incidents.
